September 9, 2012  We kick off our 12-13 Season with an installment of our FEED series, where hand-crafted food and performance go hand in hand. In FEED: Corn, the ancient and the modern will rub elbows, as we spin a story of abundance, from bushels to biofuel.

October 4-20, 2012  Next up in our 12-13 season, the ancient and modern will once again meet in our regional premiere (and second-ever production) of Messenger #1, a new ancient Greek tragedy written by award-winning playwright Mark Jackson. Messenger #1 is a contemporary re-telling of the aftermath of the Trojan War, from the perspective of the three messengers who communicate the various power grabs between members of the warring House of Atreus. Replete with song and dance numbers, swinging dizzingly between comedy and tragedy, Messenger #1 examines how “History is bought and paid for—[and] not by the likes of you and I.” “Dark, damning, graceful, and funny as hell.” Scott Moore, SF Weekly

December 16, 2012  Next: due to the immense success of last season’s incarnation, we will bring back our Short and Sweet FEED event, bringing in new material, reprising old favorites (including desserts!), revealing some surprises, and keeping it all short and sweet (but maybe a little longer so you can drink all that delicious beer, eh?)

March 1-16, 2013  In March, we will present the regional premiere of Jon. Adapted by Seth Bockley from the New Yorker short story by acclaimed author and MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship recipient George Saunders, Jon is a futuristic allegory about corporate-owned trendsetters living in a bubble of product-testing and commercial-producing, where references from marketing campaigns replace authentic experience. A story of love and self-discovery set in a hyper-marketed world gone haywire. “Hip, satiric and heartbreaking, it’s science fiction of the best sort—a link between contemporary touchstones…and legitimate questions about how we think and what matters most.” Nina Metz, NewCity

May 19, 2013  In FEED: Fermentation, we’ll delve in to the magic of zymology, and its uncanny ability to convert the familiar in to something complex and wonderful. Our final event of the season!
